01 · The technology

Smart Film, laminated.

Smart Glass is what happens when PRIVASEE® Smart Film passes through our UAE lamination line. The active PDLC film (FM-T91 in its non-adhesive grade) is encapsulated between two architectural glass panes with EVA interlayers on both faces, then vacuum-laminated and cured to a single sealed unit. Switching physics is identical to Smart Film — see the Smart Film page for the off/on/cycle science. What changes here is the package and what it protects.

Release-liner film, ready for the line

The active layer is PRIVASEE Smart Film in its non-adhesive grade — the same FM-T91 PDLC science used in the retrofit film, supplied with a release liner instead of a pressure-sensitive adhesive. Liner peeled at the start of the lamination line.

Per-glass vacuum · controlled cure

The film is sandwiched between two glass panes with EVA interlayers on both faces. A per-glass vacuum bag pulls air out, and a controlled multi-stage thermal cycle bonds the EVA. Dew point monitored throughout. Per BS EN 14449.

Active film inside · protected

The PDLC active film is now hermetically encapsulated between two glass panes, shielded by EVA on both faces and protected at the edge by the laminated build-up. No surface exposure. No edge-seal vulnerability. The active layer is sealed for the service life of the unit.

02 · Lamination process + QC

How the unit gets built.

Every PRIVASEE® Smart Glass unit is laminated in our UAE factory line. The process below is the five-step flow each unit travels, with the quality-control checkpoints applied at each step. The exact cure recipe — temperatures, dwell times, EVA grade — is confidential to PRIVASEE; what we publish here is the process you'd see if you walked through the line.

Sealed inside glass · not stuck on glass.

Smart Film sits on the room-side face of existing glass — its top PET hard-coat takes every clean, every touch, every bit of UV. Smart Glass takes the same active film and seals it between two glass panes with EVA. No surface exposure. No edge-seal vulnerability. Service life follows accordingly, and our standard warranty reflects that.

03 · Build-up anatomy

The SG-01 reference build.

The standard PRIVASEE® Smart Glass assembly is a five-layer architectural unit on low-iron substrate, EVA-laminated and edge-sealed. Layer thicknesses follow the locked reference build. Custom thicknesses and substrate combinations are available through Custom Configurations.

Match the drive to the project.

Every PRIVASEE® Smart Glass installation is paired with one of six Power Drive families. The drive is selected per project based on the panel count, the control logic, and the integration scenario. Configuration and output voltage are matched at the factory.

08 · Approved materials + warranty

Warranty-critical materials.

The PRIVASEE® warranty is conditional on the approved materials being used during install and after-care. Any deviation may affect cover. Materials are listed in the warranty document (QUA-01b) and the maintenance guide (TEC-11b).

Approved sealant

TOSSEAL 381

The only PRIVASEE-approved structural silicone for laminated Smart Glass edge sealing. Other silicones void the warranty. Cartridge, pail, and drum formats available.

Approved cleaner

Isopropyl Alcohol 70%

The only PRIVASEE-approved cleaner. Apply to a lint-free microfibre cloth — never spray directly on the panel surface. Solvents, acids, alkalines, and abrasives are banned.

Panel warranty

2-year standard · extendable

PRIVASEE® Smart Glass carries a 2-year standard manufacturer warranty from invoice date, covering manufacturing defects under normal installed conditions. Extended cover is available by separate project agreement on a per-project basis. Regional variants (GCC + EU) supplied with order.

Daily care + after-care
