How to clean and care for PRIVASEE® Smart Glass and Smart Film. Approved products only. Warranty-protective from day one.

Section 1

Daily cleaning.

PRIVASEE® Smart Glass and Smart Film clean with one product and one method. Isopropyl Alcohol 70% applied to a lint-free microfibre cloth — never sprayed directly on the surface. Wipe in a single direction. No pressure. Smart Film is typically easier to clean than Smart Glass. Repeat for fingerprints, marker traces, or general dust.

Apply to cloth

Apply IPA 70% to a lint-free microfibre cloth. Never spray directly on the surface.

Wipe in one direction

Wipe the surface in a single direction. No back-and-forth. No pressure.

Air-dry

Allow the surface to air-dry. Do not buff with a second cloth.

Marker · within 24 h

For marker writing on Smart Glass, wipe within 24 hours of contact for best ease of cleaning.

Section 2 · Warranty-critical

Approved products only.

Two products are warranted for PRIVASEE® Smart Glass and Smart Film. Substituting either voids warranty.

Section 4 · Smart Glass only

Using Smart Glass as a writing surface.

Smart Glass only

Approved dry-erase markers + IPA 70%.

Smart Glass can be used as a glass writing surface with approved dry-erase / glass-board markers and the approved cleaning method (IPA 70% on a lint-free microfibre cloth). Suitable for boardrooms, classrooms, clinical consultation rooms, and brainstorming walls.

Smart Glass laminated only — Smart Film does not support marker writing.

Marker warnings

  • Do not use permanent markers — they will not wipe clean and may stain the surface.
  • Do not use abrasive erasers (felt erasers OK · solvent-based erasers banned).
  • Do not use any solvent other than IPA 70% for cleaning marker traces.
  • Wipe marker writing within 24 hours of contact for best ease of cleaning.
Sections 5 + 6

Edge protection. Third-party contractors.

Re-sealing and edge protection.

Smart Glass laminated assemblies arrive factory-sealed with TOSSEAL 381 silicone at the edge. If a re-seal is required during the service life of the installation (e.g. after frame work, after silicone replacement), only TOSSEAL 381 is approved. Contact PRIVASEE technical for the re-seal procedure.

Third-party cleaning contractor.

Building cleaning contractors should be briefed on the PRIVASEE cleaning method before contact with Smart Glass or Smart Film surfaces. PRIVASEE provides a one-page Cleaning Contractor Acknowledgement that the contractor signs and retains. Signed acknowledgement establishes chain of responsibility and protects warranty cover. Send a copy to engineering@privasee.uk for project records.

Sections 7 + 8

Service life. Warranty conditions.

Service life expectation.

Indoor commercial use ≥ 7–10 years.

Service life depends on installation environment, use frequency, and adherence to approved cleaning and maintenance protocols. Outdoor, façade, and wet-risk installations follow per-project engineering. For service life beyond 10 years, contact PRIVASEE for an inspection.

Keeping warranty intact.

24-month panel warranty + 12-month hardware warranty from dispatch. Warranty is conditional on approved sealant (TOSSEAL 381 only), approved cleaner (IPA 70% only), approved installation per PRIVASEE TEC-06 / TEC-07 Install Manuals, and use of PRIVASEE Power Drives or universally-compatible drives.
